Dr. Fred Paas
Erasmus University Rotterdam,Netherlands
Fred Paas is professor and chair of the research group Educational and Developmental Psychology at the Department of Psychology, Education and Child Studies of Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands. He is also a professorial fellow at the School of Education/Early Start of the University of Wollongong in Australia. He holds a master's degree (1988) in human movement sciences and a Ph.D. degree (1993) in instructional technology. His research focuses on the design of effective and efficient learning environments by applying contemporary, multidisciplinary scientific knowledge about the human cognitive system. He has published more than 300 articles and book chapters and he was recognized as the world's most productive author in the five best journals in the field of educational psychology.
Since 2015 he has been the editor-in-chief of the journal Educational Psychology Review, which is the number one journal in the field of educational psychology. He is also on the editorial board of several other renowned journals, such as the Journal of Educational Psychology, Educational Technology Research and Development, and the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.
Speech TitleHuman Cognitive Architecture and the Design of Effective Learning Environments
AbstractThe main goal of cognitive load theory is to use contemporary scientific knowledge about the human cognitive architecture to design effective and efficient learning environments. To achieve this goal, cognitive load researchers attempt to engineer the instructional control of cognitive load by designing methods that substitute productive for unproductive working memory load. In this keynote I will use the cognitive-load perspective to show how aspects of the learning task, the learner, and the physical learning environment can be used in the design of learning environments. I will focus on how discoveries in other disciplines, such as neurosciences, and knowledge gained from multidisciplinary research relating to how people process and learn information can inform the instructional design process.

Prof.Timothy Teo
Murdoch University,Australia
Timothy Teo (Ph.D.) is Professor of Education a Murdoch University (Australia). Previously Distinguished Professor of Education and Associate Dean at the University of Macau, Timothy has held the position of an Honorary Professor at the University of Auckland and, currently Honorary Chair Professor at the National Tsing Hua University (Taiwan), Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Johannesburg (South Africa), and Visiting Professor at the Universiti Tengku Abdul Rahman (Malaysia). Timothy’s research interests are multi-disciplinary and include both substantive and methodological areas. These are Educational Psychology (Self-efficacy-teachers and students; Beliefs about teaching and learning;  Meta-cognition), ICT in Education (Technology acceptance and adoption; e-learning), Music Education (Psychological processes of music teaching and learning), and Quantitative Methods (Psychometrics; Instrument development and validation; cross-cultural measurement; issues in survey development and administration; structural equation modeling; multilevel modeling; latent growth modeling; Item Response Theory modeling). Timothy is chief editor of two international journals, The Asia-Pacific Education Researcher (TAPER) and International Journal of Quantitative Research in Education (IJQRE) and a member of over 10 journal editorial boards. A highly published and cited scholar, Timothy has edited three books and written many book chapters and conference papers, and published over 180 peer-reviewed journal articles, with over 140 in highly ranked SSCI journals. His Google Scholar citations are over 13,000 with an H-index of 58.

Dr. Rocky Lam
City University of Hong Kong
Graduated from the Engineering Doctorate Degree of City University of Hong Kong, Dr Lam has over 30 years IT experience working in international IT services providers and large enterprises such as Digital, Compaq, HP, and Modern Terminals Limited…etc. Dr Lam has involved in many large IT projects in different industrial sectors of Hong Kong, including government, utilities, retails, manufacturing, banking and finance as SAP and ITIL/ISO 20K consultant and auditor. Dr Lam has set up the Vantis Consulting Group, delivering IT business solutions such as Enterprise Resources Planning, Human Resources Planning and Talent Management, Internet of Things (IOT) and Big Data Analysis Projects under cloud computing for serving over thousands of customers in the Greater China, Asia Pacific and Europe regions, employing over 180 staff across China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and London.
In addition, Dr Lam is also the visiting lecturer of CityU, PolyU and Warwick University, as well as the program adviser of the Hang Seng University smart supply chain master degree program. Dr Lam always work with the universities to encourage a lot of graduates to be entrepreneurs by the funding and resources support from the Government and universities. Being the fellow member of British Computer Society and CityU Engineering Doctorate Society, Dr Lam focus on the research and development of IOT and Big Data Analysis for helping different organizations to build a smart ecosystem. Furthermore, Dr Lam is the Chairman of the NGO of “China and Hong Kong Enterprises Market Development Association” for advocating the foreign direct investment in the developing countries of “One Belt One Road.

Prof. Lianne Lam
Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Prof. Lianne Lam is a Professor of Practice with the Department of Management and Marketing of the Faculty of Business, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She is also a visiting lecturer at the Hong Kong University School of Professional and Continuing Education on Behavioral Approach to Conflict Resolution and Negotiation Skill, at their Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu centers.  Prof. Lam received her DBA form the Hong Kong Polytechnic University focusingon Environmental Education. Her thesis paper was awarded as the first runner up of the "Best Thesis of the Year" and was presented in the Public Management Research Conference in the University of Wisconsin in 2013, and at the Academy of Management in 2017. Prof. Lam also holds an EMBA Degree, a Bachelor of Law Degree with the Peking University, and a Bachelor Degree in Actuarial Science with the University of Toronto. Born and raised in Hong Kong, Prof. Lianne Lam dedicates to foster positive thinking and sustainable development in Hong Kong.  She founded the Hong Kong Sustainability Society, a non-profit organization, in 2014, and now acts as the CEO of the organization.
